Office Décor to Brighten Up Your Monday

Mondays are tough on everyone. The weekend has come to an end and all of those workday worries you’ve been pushing to the back of your mind for the past two days are back with a vengeance. Fortunately, there are adjustments you can make to your workspace that will brighten up your mood no matter how gloomy your Monday may be.

Bring nature indoors. You might be stuck inside throughout your workday, but that’s no reason not to bring a little bit of nature into your space. A simple vase with a clean design filled with freshly picked flowers will allow you to personalise your workspace when you don’t have much control over the other décor elements in the office. Plants can also thrive at your desk, and there’s even evidence that having plants in the office can reduce stress and decrease pollution in the air.

Choose useful storage solutions. A tidy desk will lead to a tidier mind, but it’s difficult to keep clutter under control when you don’t have the storage space to organise all of your office supplies, files and paperwork. Choose desks that come with plenty of storage space built in, and opt for tastefully matching filing cabinets that will help you keep your workspace neat and organised. Make sure everything has its own place, and keep up with your organisation structure to ensure that you have a calm, stress free environment.

Choose colours wisely. Interestingly, there have been several studies researching the way that colours can influence our mood and productivity. Pale blue shades have been shown to naturally enhance mood and promote a feeling of calmness and serenity, so if you have some choice in the paint used for your office space, blue may be a good option. If you’re more limited in your paint options, you can still choose décor for your desk that uses colours that appeal to your personal taste and make you feel most at ease.

Decorate with what makes you happy. Just having a few items on your desk which remind you of the positive things in your life will help you come back to reality and get into a happier mindset throughout a stressful work day. Buy a few pretty photo frames so that you can look at the people you love when you’re feeling low, or arrange some crystals or stones that make you feel good somewhere on your desk. When it comes to brightening up your workday, a little can go a long way.
